Restoration work
Restoration work 1910-1930
During the twentieth century there were not many changes made to the castle, rather there was a lot of maintenance and alterations carried out due to the continuing modernisation of the offices. Some restoration work was carried out and a lot of rather debatable changes were made in the area around the castle.
Restoration work until 2003
The 1980s saw the beginning of a cycle of restoration works that modified the wings which were gradually freed from being store rooms and offices so that they could be included in a system which catered for access, visits by the public and readiness for temporary public and private events.
